4-21-09 Live Intensity

warsynium Posted by warsynium at 01:57 AM on July 15, 2009 Comments comments (0)

Hey everyone, we're just now coming down from a killer weekend, and what a time it was. Metalfest was Friday, played a killer Hot Carl's show at the United Methodist church in Lenox Saturday, and 4/20 last night. Things have been getting a hell of a lot tighter live and the new energy and vibe we have going (mostly in part thanks to the new addition of Devan) is incredible. Seeing all of those bands Friday was incredibly inspiring. I think it has given us all a new goal to shoot for. Will Warsynium one day grace that stage? Who knows, but regardless we're going to try.

Devan bought a new PA system, With this inclusion our live vocal sound has increased drastically. The band has gotten a lot more experimental with vocals: Devan and Zack doing lead, Me and Joe on backing, and even Nik occasionally chiming in. On our first album it isn't hard to spot the large amount of vocal tracks going on, many of which never saw the light of day in live performance, but with the inclusion of this new sound set-up we can now very accuratly reproduce studio sounds and experiment for months before we need to hit the studio. Additionally, Nik bought a killer new amp, It sounds pretty tight and brings a punchier (and obviously louder) sound. This all translates to a much more professional overall live soundscape, something we need to work on.

reelin' in the years,

1-23-09 Celestial Dawn

A new song is being finalized for the album entitled "Celestial Dawn". It is a combination of the 2 songs mentioned in my last post. The runtime is over 15 minutes in length and features many different themes, key, and rhythm changes. We have begun a thrashy sort of outerlude to this song that will be the follow up track on yet to be named Warsynium II. Celestial Dawn's demo track is up for listening on the Mallards Myspace. Also we made the local paper the Berkshire Eagle with a huge two page article and interview, it's available on their site. Other then that not much new, lots of shows comming your way this and next month (including one in springfield tonight).

You stay classy San Diego,

-Nate

11-19-08 Writing, Jaming, giging

warsynium Posted by warsynium at 01:56 AM on July 15, 2009 Comments comments (0)

we're slowly churning out 2 more songs for the second album. One features a very complex jazzy sort of modal approach with lots of dissonant sounding progressions and the other is a very bass driven song that gets a little intense at times. These two plus the other 3 finished for the album make 5, if we continue on the path we'd planned then that means we have but 2 more songs to write, one of which will likely be an instrumental. Looks like this second album shouldn't take too long at all as far as writing is concerned.

We still need the money and planning to get our first cd professionally pressed and shipped, so obviously we're going to wait at least until that's done.

Hopefully after that we can get enough surplus from merch (shirts likely coming soon) and album sales to help fund some recording hours for next year and maybe a tour this summer.

will sweep for food,

-Nate

9-7-08 Official Business

Ladys and gentleman, as of tonight, the album has received an official tracklist and release date. The official tracklist can be viewed here at the discography page. As for the release date, we are very serious about a Halloween release date. Yes, in just a little over one month everything we have worked so very hard for over a year and a half will be finished. All the tracks will be available online for purchase/download until we can afford hard disk formats/mastering. We're really really starting to get moving on this project, as we've just finalized the mix on Somnium and will continue to mix the rest of the album to perfection.

Soon....,

8-12-08 Still Pushing

Album is not done. Sorry, we're working on it. We have however started working on a new song we've been calling "The Enigma Of Survival", it's planned to be out on the next album with "Flood" and "Hypnagogia". We've already got the instrumental parts down and even pretty tight, all we need to do really is write some lyrics and it's good to go.

In other news, me and Joe will be off to Berklee college of music from the 17th to the 24th for their summer guitar session. Hopefully we can leave there with some new things learned and some more fans, we'll keep you posted. This means however that since Nik is currently in California and we'll be gone till the 24th that the last official warsynium show till we get back was the summer slaughter show we played Saturday night. We have plenty of shows for september and hope to get some before Anders goes off to UMass.

5-29-08 Recording Wrapping Up

warsynium Posted by warsynium at 01:54 AM on July 15, 2009 Comments comments (0)

I know, I know, I know. This album has taken forever, but i assure you it will soon be finished. We have one song left to record and then we ship the album to be mastered and created. In all honesty I can't promise that the album will be out this summer, but it will be out this year for sure. Schedules and money are tight right now and it's hard to make ends meet when making this album. We've already spent well over $2,000 making this album, all of this money was made from shows or earned from our jobs. NO HAND OUTS. We have earned 100% of the studio time we have used, and it's hard to continue to do this as struggling musicians in a dying scene. We unfortunately do not have the advantages that others may have when it comes to obtaining funds, so you might have to sit back for a bit and wait.

On the plus side, we've been writing non-stop for our second album. The album is considerably more heavy and progressive. We're pretty sure we don't want to make the same move as we did on the first album, and have decided to keep it short. Probably around 7 songs max. Since the album is still in the planning process we can't confirm anything yet, but the idea of creating a concept album is something we'd all love to do, and might do this time around.

3-23-08 More Work Still To Come

warsynium Posted by warsynium at 01:53 AM on July 15, 2009 Comments comments (0)

Killer show last night at the Masonic Temple, thanks to Art Decade, Pop Collars, and everyone who came out. This was probably our best show to date, and we're glad everyone helped it happen. We've been experimenting with out set-lists a lot lately, so expect some new and interesting song orders and medleys to happen at our up coming shows. Also, I updated this site a lot, so have fun with that.

As far as the new album is concerned, we're getting a lot closer to finishing it, but we still have a ton of work to do. The album is taking forever due to all the time constraints on both ends (ours and the studios) and also because of the severe lack of money we have. Hang in there, it will be out someday.

Dude, totally sick,

-Nate

1-5-07 A Long Absence

warsynium Posted by warsynium at 01:53 AM on July 15, 2009 Comments comments (0)

Ok, So it's been awhile since I've last updated, I know. We've gotten back into the swing of things recording and preforming live and everyone has recovered fully from all of their injuries. The album is going pretty smoothly but we've hit a lack of funds so far in the short leave of absence we had from the stage during our down time, so the album's release will unfortunately be pushed back. What has been finished are Eldest of Evil and Calypso, which in addition to Ice Harvest have been added to a limited print demo we will be selling to raise funds for the recording of our EP. The run time of this demo is over 20 minutes which raised a good question: will this album fit on one CD? the answer is more than likely: no, as we still have 2 songs exceeding 10 minutes and 7 more songs that need to be put on (none of which are under 4 minutes). Since a conventional CD can only has a limited run time of 80 minutes, we will need to either cut tracks from the album or make the album a double disc.

Now none of us want tracks cut from the album, so the only answer is to make a double disc album. Some ideas are being thrown around as to what will be on each album, but at the moment no definitive idea has been set. There are of course a few problems with this idea: 1) the album cannot be listened to all he way through without changing CDs and without having both CDs present, and 2) packaging of the album will be expensive and may require some form of special/custom order which in the end will mean more money from both the band and the listeners (you). Regardless, a double disc setup is enlightening to us and another chance to express ourselves creatively. So look forward to more news in the next few months.

10-12-07 Sticks and Stones

warsynium Posted by warsynium at 01:52 AM on July 15, 2009 Comments comments (0)

OK, so a lot has been going on, some good...some bad. We pretty much completely finished the song I've been referring too as "Untitled", all it needs is a title and slight lyrical workings and it's good to go. We only have two more songs to work on: Zack and Joe's new song and my piano piece. W've hit a snare though-Mike will be out of town for 2 weeks which puts the recordings on hold till then.

even worse news: Tuesday i had a mountain biking accident. While going quite fast (20-30mph?) i lost control of my bike skidded out and was flung over my handle bars onto my right shoulder. The accident gave me a concussion, fractured my collar bone, and gave me deep lacerations and bruising all over the right side of my body. Until yesterday i couldn't move the right side of my body without severe pain. Because of these events, i will be unable to play guitar and piano for at least a week or 2. To be able to play shows like i once could- maybe a month. This isn't too awfully terrible as Mike will be out of town for 2 weeks and we have no shows scheduled for most of this month. But i have been taking this time to try and sharpen my composing skill and maybe even write some usable material for the rest of the band.

additional bad news: Nik will be going in for surgery at some point in Nov. More details will be available later on this as I'm still unsure of everything going on.

Regardless of this I'd like to take the time to address a rumor going around: Warsynium is NOT on hiatus. Although we are going through temporary rough times, we are all still writing, recording, and will soon be playing shows.

Ow my fucking arm,

-Nate
